Did I put a comment on your video? I can’t see it anywhere!!! But it does’nt matter, I think I told you it is really good, I’m impressed by your work. I’ve got your book, “East of the Moon, West of the Sun”, and it’s really one of my references and inspirations for my drawings, just like Alan Lee work for “The Lord of the Rings”. But I don’t manage to come close to your talent!Gaby, from France.
Dear Richmond436I’m so sorry your comment was deleted. I have never deleted any internet comment on my work. So that is a bit of a mystery to me.I am always very clear about my technique. As someone who can draw from life, from imagination or using photo reference, I have no problem showing people when I am using photos. Indeed I did trace the outline of the boy’s face on to the board. I say so very clearly in the film. Thanks for taking the time to comment.I hope you enjoyed the film.PJ
Thank you for taking the time to respond to my question. Regarding the outline, wouldn’t it be more fun to draw it, rather than to trace over it?
sure is more fun, but this is about painting, the fun of painting, he enjoys it, need to view more videos of him
Your art is really touching. You have a way of bringing the soul of things to the surface. Thanks again for sharing how you do it. Makes me want to draw my own child straight away
not keen on baseball caps etc in traditional paintings but that aside the painting is excellent
Woo!! I´m very fond of painting, in fact I painted Girl with a Pearl Earring some years ago at art class. I only paint as a hobby in my spare time. Good to see you painting. (sorry mistakes).
What medium are you painting in for this?
Hauntingly Vermeerish. Bravo!!!
