It’s a contentious issue in dating landâ¦should a girl play hard to get, or should she be the modern women and, so to speak, take the dating bull by the horns?

An article by Sara Reed on the getromantic.com website talks about some scientific research that went into the whole playing hard to get issue. And the results are quite interestingâ¦
“In one research conclusion, several college men were recruited for what they were lead to believe was one of the free dating websites . Each man was handed the phone number of a woman and was asked call her then invite her out for a date. Unbeknown to the guys, this lady was secretly part of the research. For half the men she played “easy to get”. She appeared glad to except the invitation for a date. For the rest of the men, she played “hard to get”. She didn’t appear over enthusiastic about going on a date with the man, but she did agree admitting she was also dating other guys.”
The researchers, Shibley and Hyde, found that men had equally positive reactions to the female, whether she was playing it cold or hot. Reed points out that other research has backed this finding. This led to the question â why did men like the cold woman as much as the warm one? And the conclusion is interesting: men get an ego boost from being able to date a woman who’s attracting lots of other men.
But there’s a fine line to walk for women who want to play hard to get. If you’re too inaccessible or unapproachable, he may give up all together â especially if he’s on the shy side or suffered one too many rejections in the past.
Ellen Fein and Sherrie Schneider, the authors of the best-selling The Rules: Time-Tested Secrets for Capturing the Heart of Mr. Right, seem to base their whole dating philosophy on the girl playing hard to get. One of their core rules, which as many women swear by as repudiate, is never to call a man first. âTrust in the natural order of things,â say the best-selling authors. âNamely, that man pursues woman.â
For girls that want to play the dating game by The Rules, listen to what these dating gurus say, there’s good old-fashioned wisdom in their words. But for those who prefer to play without a rulebook, maybe it’s a case of being able to adequately assess the male who you have your eye on and take it from there. ok so there are these three guys g1, g2, g3. (g=guy) So on the ottawa trip and g1 was ALL over me but i am not one of those girls who is like that so i continuously pushed him off. And on the first night he tried to give me my first kiss but i again pushed him off. So i knew that g2 and g3 liked me but i couldn;t talk to them becasue g1 was all over me. He ended up giving up and calling me a prude *********. W/E. So then that jight g2 bought me thre packs of halls and offered to buy me lunch so i thought nothing of it. Then the next day at the museum he bought me $53 swarovski chrystal EARINGSSS. but the problem is that i don’t like him and idk what to do with them like give them back cause he won’t take them but if i don’t then does that mean that hed think i like him?? idk and then g3 (who is one of my ex’s) was talking to me and he apoligized like 1000 times for not calling me and stuff when we were dating adnd me friend was talking to him and he admitted that he likes me but so did g2. but i don’t like g2 i like g3 more but g3 thinks that g2 will be mad if g2 asks me out so idk what to doo. Plz and older teeneager who knows about this stuff can u plz tell me what to do about the earings and who to choose or wjhat to do.

How do i look pretty? I’m 14, with acne (Im using this acne treatment to get rid of it) How am i supposed to dress cute? and look cute? I’m not even allowed to straighten my hair by myself, and im not allowed to wear make-up (my mom is baby-ing mee! She cant seem to think im 13 and i want to look pretty, and just be a total girl sometimess!!) What do i do? I’m also not allowed to wear dangly earings!i also cant wear tank tops of anything cuz i have acne on my chest, back, shoulders, and upper arms and its really bad, and i have used everything nothing works. I dont know how to look cute. Girls give me some tips pleasee??
Also, i have a big problem with hair i have it like on my arms.. its gross.. but my mom says i should leave it (but its so much! its even on my hands!)

I wear abercrombie and stuff. But i mean like desgigner like chanel. I have ONNNNE pair of juicy earings that i never wear because i dont want to reck them! ahah! Am I the only girl without designer stuff? Its just sooo expensive!
