My daughter has had her ears pierced since she was 2 months old. She is now 5 months. I think it is the absolute cutest to see baby girls wearing hoops. Is 5 months too early to let her wear them? What was the earliest you let your daughter wear hoops?
Oh and im talking about the small ones. Small enough where she cant pull them out or get them caught. We have had no problems what so ever with the studs she has now she never touches them and they have never caught.

They are adorably cute. I’ve seen at least one teen girl in my classes that had a ripped ear…she did it when she was less than a year old. Her earring got caught on something and she didn’t know not to pull and it tore a whole. She had them repierced over to the side some, but I just would not think it would be worth the risk. I’d wait until at least 3 when she can communicate well enough to protect her ears.

I’m 38 and get mine caught all the time. I’d say never, too much of a risk to have them ripped out…how cute is that?

My little girl’s ears are pierced too (she’s 9 months), and I have thought about the hoops but I really don’t think they’re safe…even just a tiny hoop is big enough for their tiny little fingers to pull out by accident, so we’ve just been buying different studs. She has like 8 pairs now and we change them about once a week. At Claires they have probably 50 different studs in 14K gold, our daughter has little butterflies, flowers, colored jewels, and we’re getting her birthstone for her 1st birthday. I think we’re going to hold off on hoops til she’s closer to 18 months.

    Funny ain’t it.
Stick needles in a baby and you get hauled before the courts in double quick time.
Call it fashion and stick needles in their ears and its ok.
    Just a thought.

well just as long as you make sure she cant get her finger through it or snag it on stuff. .then probably as early as you feel comfortable.. personally i would always be a little paranoid until they were old enough to understand ‘dont pull on your earrings!’

it would probably be fine to put some in now, just make sure they are small enough that she couldnt get her finger through it to pull it. the last thing you want is ripped ears!

My sister had hoops, the tiny ones, at 8 months old and one got caught on a blanket or something and it ripped her ear. Now, she has a split lobe on the right side, still at the age of 23 years old. I would wait till she’s old enough to take care of her own ears to go outside the whole stud earings.

Im way too worried that something gets caught on them.
Ive only seen 1 baby ever with hoops and that was just this week actually. I had no idea hoops that tiny were even made. If I could find them I MIGHT let my 3 year old wear them but Im still not sure.

Don’t attach anything to her head that she can’t lift with her neck muscles.

I’d recommend sticking with the studs for now. C’mon … 5 months old? I don’t care how absolutely cute the hoops are, I’d be more concerned about the potential hazard than anything.
My Mom didn’t have my ears pierced until I was 5. I don’t think babies should have pierced ears .. there’s always the chance of infection, getting in caught on something, ripping it out, etc. Why not wait?

yeah i guess it would be ok !!

i probably wouldn’t until she is older, hoops can get caught on anything and rip her ear
